'Zen' De Amore
2024
Embracing the timeless charm of local materials amidst lush surroundings, the villa becomes a canvas that beautifully weaves together the essence of art, architecture and culture. The eclectic built form draws inspiration from Goan, Mediterranean and Bali architecture.…the landscapes intend to bind the spaces through subtle incorporation of ‘zen’ elements of the Japanese gardens and the ‘lusciousness’ of the tropics.

Our landscape intervention aimed to soften the bold architecture and create a sense of calm and continuity across the site. The landscape binds interior and exterior spaces through thoughtful planting, curated views, and layered textures.
We incorporated elements inspired by Japanese Zen gardens — like gravel beds, stone pathways, and minimal focal points — to infuse serenity and balance. These were juxtaposed with the lushness of tropical vegetation, offering shade, biodiversity, and a vibrant sensory experience. Every material was selected to reflect local character and durability, and the planting palette supports seasonal interest and ecological richness.
The space therefore turns into a place that invites the user to engage, retreat and create while coexisting with the local biodiversity.
